Pearl River church of the Nazarene was organized in Pearl River, LA on Novermber 23, 1958, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Johnston. Rev. Don Perryman, District Superintendent officiated at the organizational meeting. The order of service was as follows:
Congregational Singing - What A Friend We Have In Jesus, Jesus Lover of My Soul, and There Is A Fountain. Rev. Perryman spoke from Ephesians 5:25-27 - "Christ loved the church and gave Himself for It." It was decided that the congregation would meet on Sunday afternoons at 2:30 p.m. at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Johnston. Rev. Luton Hutto of Pontchatuoula, LA and Rev. W.F. Hurst of New Orleans would preside over the services until a Pastor would be called.
